BSA Pack # 173

About Us

Pack 173 has approximately 30 boys on its roster. We primarily serve the families of Pine Brook Elementary School in Greece, New York. As Pine Brook enrolls students from across the Town of Greece, our Pack is more diverse than many others in our Town, though most scouts will have teachers and classmates in common with one another. We are chartered through Greece United Methodist Church, where we hold our monthly Pack meetings. Our members are currently in grades 1-5 and all members of the Pack enjoy a well-rounded program of activities that focuses on developing skills that are age-appropriate for the scouts, promoting quality time together for parents and children, and promoting good citizenship within the school and community.

Each grade in school will meet as a Den (Tiger Cub, Wolf Cub, Bear Cub, or Webelos Scouts, which is a two year program for 4th and 5th grade boys) at least twice per month to work on age-appropriate skills and advancements. Dens are typically made up of 4-10 boys.

The Pack meets as a whole group once a month to recognize the achievements earned by all our members, as well as to work toward a Pack goal such as completing a service project, competing in the Pinewood Derby, or holding an ice cream social. Our highlight of the year is our Blue and Gold banquet (held annually in March) where most of our boys will be presented with their Badge of Rank and families will enjoy a celebration of Scouting. We always have some type of entertainment at the banquet such as a magician, juggler, or the like for the enjoyment of all!

In addition to formal Pack meetings, we try to have a monthly outing to expose the boys to the community in which we live. These outings include a camping weekend at the J. Warren Cutler Scout Reservation in Naples, an overnight trip to places such as the Seneca Park Zoo, the National Soaring Museum, or the Niagara Falls Aquarium, afternoons at a Sledding Party or Rockventures, or trips to Frontier Field or Sahlen's Stadium are just some of our Pack activities!
